The Pitt Panthers Beat Notre Dame For 5 Straight Losses 93-80

The game wasn't that tight after all, the Panthers were down 6 points at half-time but came roaring back to win by 13. Pitt's DeJuan Blair showed up in a big way today, dropping 23 points, and a career-high 22 boards. He has a bright future ahead of him in the NBA, anyway, Levance Fields also played a big role with 17 points and 7 dimes. For Notre Dame, Luke Harangody had another double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. This is a quality win for Pitt to drop ND for thir 5th straight loss.

The Lakers Come Out On Top of the Timberwolves, 132-119

In an offensive bonanza, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves by 13 points. Both Kobe and Andrew Bynum had great games, Kobe scored 30 points and Bynum chipped in 27 points to go with 15 rebounds. For the Timberwolves, Al Jefferson showed up as usual with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Randy Foye scored 27 points. With Andrew Bynum doing very well as of late, the Lakers have a strong chance of making it far in the playoffs.

The Celtics Sneak By the Pistons, 86-78

With this win, the Celtics have now won 10 straight. This was a high octane game, Jason Maxiell (a UC grad) was just outworking the Celtics on the glass, and Kendrick Perkins didn't seem to like it. He was so upset that he got to the point to foul Maxiell on the way up for a shot by slamming his neck to the court. Maxiell wouldn't be having any of that, he immediately hopped of the ground and pushed Perkins away. Perkins was awarded a flagrant level 2, and you know what that means, he was ejected. Maxiell only got t'd up, which was probably the right call. Anyway, Allen Iverson surpassed Charles Barkley in the all-time points category to move to 16th place, he would score 19. Rodney Stuckey (a future star) also added 19 points, with Antonio Mcdyess adding 14 rebounds. Kevin Garnett contributed to the Celtic's victory with 22 point and 12 boards. Paul Pierce also had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. This is a quality win for the Celtics. Discuss the harsh foul in the comments.

Games Of the Night 1/30/09

Another game to lookout for is the Lakers are playing in Minnesota against the hot Timberwolves, who have won 10 of their last 13 games, this game will not be nationally televised, but tip-off is at 8:00. Results will be posted shortly after each game.

Shaq will be making his 15th All-Star game appearance, no love for Al Jefferson, the true All-Star. I think that winning should not have anything to do with being an All-Star or not. It should depend on your talent and how well you maximize it. That being said, I think that Jason Terry should have been an All-Star over Tony Parker, his numbers aren't even that great. Another thing that the NBA did wrong was vote in 2, 7-foot forwards, which on many teams in the NBA would be playing center. David West also made the team, which i also have a problem with, he started in 37 games and had 7 double-doubles compared to Paul Millsap(one of the most under-rated players in the NBA) who only started 27 games an, d had an incredible 24 double-doubles. I think he had 19 in a row, which was the most in 3 years. The last problem that i have is labeling Chris Bosh as a center, this is man not a center and does not play center on his team. NBA, pick a real center next time, like David Lee, who had 34 double-doubles out of 38 games. He deserves more respect. Put your thoughts in the comments.

Sammy the Owl Gets Ejected!

Tulane was at Rice, then this happened. Poor Sammy, he was just sticking up for his team, even though it was a good call. That was a classic headbut!

Magic Roll Over Cavs With Ease

Magic 99, Cavaliers 88. Well, it was a tight came during the first half, but after that, the Magic caught fire and started splashing 3s left and right. The Magic also out-rebounded the Cavs 48 to 39. Orlando hit 89% of their free throws while Cleveland only hit 65% of theirs. Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard both had double-doubles, Howard had a HUGE double-double, 22 points and 18 rebounds. With big Z out, Dwight is a force that cannot be overcome in the paint. Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson also had nice games scoring 19 and 18 points respectively. Lebron James had 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

It's Mo's Night

Mo Williams exploded last night to score a career high 43 points to help his team beat the Sacramento Kings 117-110. His teammate Lebron James also recorded a triple double. It is no secret this team has improved signifigantly with the addition of Mo Williams, last season without him, they had a 54.9 win percentage. This year that has gone up to 81.4%. Wiiliams will help them go deeper into the playoffs.

2009 NBA All-Star Game Starting Linups

All Star Game strating linups have been anounced. The superman-slam dunker, Dwight Howard set the record for most all star votes ever received ( 3,150,181). That being said, the East linup is:

EAST***
PG-Allen Iverson
SG-Dwyane Wade
SF-Lebron James
PF-Kevin Garnett
C-Dwight Howard

WEST***
PG-Chris Paul
SG-Kobe Bryant
F-Amar'e Stoudemire
F-Tim Duncan
C-Yao Ming
These starting linups do not reflect the real All-Stars in the NBA. To start things off, Allen Iverson's game has been slowing down the last couple years. His teammate Rodney Stuckey is more deserving than AI himself, but the real All-Star PG in the East is Devin Harris. Any claim saying that Rajon Rondo should be there is oblivious. Devin Harris averages around 22 ppg and 6.4 assists. His scoring was higher until his tailbone injury occurred, also, his +/- is 5 points higher than AI's. This stat is very important, but that is for another time. I have another problem with the NBA pretending that Tim Duncan is a forward, he is not and never will be. All other players in the linups are worthy. Next item to discuss about the All-Star game is the reserves. Thoughts in comments.....
